2. Planning & Scheduling Your Group's Activities

Q1. What kinds of activities are available in the Clubhouse program?
A1. Groups of schools participating in the Clubhouse can request the use of a number of different Internet facilities (online forum, mailing lists, Web server space). Participants are free to use them in any way they like.

Example activities:

  • An online cultural exchange between foreign language students and native speakers of the language.
  • An ongoing discussion of a specific topic via an online forum.
  • Collaborative research on a specific topic.
  • Collaboration between classes to create stories, picture books or musical compositions.

You can read a teacher's comments about the Clubhouse experience here.

Q2. When planning an online project, what should we take into consideration?
A2. When scheduling activities, be aware of differences in the schedules of the participating schools--examination periods, extended vacations, etc. While many schools in the northern hemisphere are on summer vacation roughly between June and August, summer vacation for many schools in the southern hemisphere falls around December and January. Of course this varies from country to country, and you also have to take religious holidays into account, so please be sure to check with your partners.
